PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Half Shekel (Silver, 19 mm, 6.90 g, 1 h), date illegible. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. Illegible legend Eagle standing left on prow with palm frond behind; in field to left, illegible date above club; to right, KP(?) above illegible date; between the eagle's legs, illegible letter. Cf. DCA Tyre 939, HGC 10, 358 and RPC I 4699 ff. Darkly toned and in an interesting crude style. A few small scratches on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
